OK, OK, I'm catching up on months of ignored blog reading (largely due to travelling..), but seeing Dave's link to this article on software pricing, certainly gives food for thought. It would be interesting to see a vendor use these rules to write warrants on their services.

One point in the article that needs a further look is the option to buy an upgrade -- doesn't the future software value need to be stripped of maintenance and further upgrade value? Not sure.
