This is desperately needed for desktop Java. Mustang please!
Having a good security model in Java is great, but if we can't leverage it except in an all or nothing manner, then it's value is drastically reduced. I wonder how easy it is to write a security manager to provide this behaviour... hmm. Lazy web, anyone?
